That's the spirit. Fans: Why can't we have a safer carpark? Liverpool red: you've been told you can't so accept it Fans: why can't we be treated like humans and allowed to keep the bottle top which we own Liverpool red: you've been told you can't. Accept it What is the point in fan engagement meetings if we just accept ******** answers and accept that nothing will change? Isn't the whole idea of them to get the club to change its ways and improve. If we get people saying 'just accept it's then we might as well scrap the bloody things because as far as I can see they've had very little actual positive effect. Ball boys has been asked. Nowt changed Scoreboard got asked for years. No comment on the result of that. Ticket prices? Nowt changed Bottle tops? Nowt changed **** concourses? Nowt changed Dangerous traffic management? Nowt changed Dangerous lighting? Nowt changed Catering *****? Nowt changed Considering he many of these meetings have happened and considering that we have SLOs as well who also have meetings has the results of the meetings actually been any good? No They are brilliant at being used to give fans information about transfers and the clubs position and things like that but as for being a tool to improve things that affect the supporter they have largely been pointless with a lot of waffle, sidestepping questions and false promises
It fools people into thinking they have a say. We've always had something similar at work. Canvas opinion and then carry on regardless.
Why don't you attend the meeting? Voice your issues. Or are you passing the buck and relying on someone else to voice the issues for you..? If something bothered me to such an extent that I'd spend so many hours of my time complaining about it on a message board, I'd pop along to Oakwell and attend said meeting in person, to make sure my points were raised.
Probably been mentioned already, but the speed of service at half time in the Ponty End. Rotherham game - left my seat after 40 minutes and the queues were huge. I gave up after 20 minutes and returned to my seat after moving about 5 yards. Absolute joke! Furthermore, there was a till which was not been used at the kiosk. They could have made a fortune at the game! Attendances are on the up, so surely the catering company have to recognise they need more people? Supply and demand and all that. It's so bad words can't describe. Can't comment on other areas of the ground.
I thought that's what we had a supporters trust and team of supporters liaison officers for, you know, to liaise. Also it really annoys me the attitude of pretending issues aren't known about and calling out supporters rather than just ******* dealing with them. Patrick cryne KNOWS about these issues. There's no getting away from it he just does. Ben managed knew about them. He can pretend he didn't but he ******* did. Mark stokes knew about them. Can ignore them but he did know. You know as well as I do that the club is aware of what is posted on here. Why then, is there an attitude 'you know it's a perfectly reasonable complaint shared by many of our customers but because it is raised on the internet we will ignore it unless the person raising the valid complaint is willing to use their own time to travel to us and repeat what they have already stated online'. Why is that an attitude that is accepted just because it is Barnsley FC we are talking about? You wouldn't accept that attitude from cineworld. As jamdrop said, if you bought an annual pass and noticed so many big issues and you emailed them to tell them about it, and they got several other emails all saying the same thing, would you then think it is right if they ignored everyone's emails and instead said come and see us and repeat your complaint, otherwise we will ignore them?
It matters because..... 1) It's part of the matchday which needs massive improvement. 2) The more money the company with the catering contract makes, the more we can negotiate for it when it comes up for renewel.
For me it's just the missed revenue from shirt sales. I reckon they could probably sell about a third more beer at half time if they got more staff and better organisation such as pre pouring pints on the build up to half time and installing in and out barriers. There can't be many businesses that turn down captive willing punters like we do.
Like I say, if I was so vociferous about so many issues and had an opportunity to voice them personally in a meeting attended by the CEO and owner, I'd be taking that opportunity.
And if I was the CEO or owner of a company who saw many of my customers had these issues I wouldn't be demanding or expecting one of them to meet me, I'd just be dealing with them. PS, as you know, I think a lot of areas are improving at the club and I told you this recently but it doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. Is it so wrong to expect the simple things done without having to resort to marching down to oakwell personally?
PPS I don't use the carpark, I don't personally give a flying **** if somebody gets killed in it. It doesn't affect me at all. Nor do I buy drinks in bottles. I don't care at all if people get them or not on a personal level. I don't buy food because i eat at other times, I don't personally care it doesn't affect my life at all. But you know what. It DOES affect other people who have all complained about these issues. All I'm doing is collating them and reposting them to remind people that they havent been dealt with. If that makes me the clubs worst enemy then so be it. In reality I'm just a customer who isn't a selfish ****.
I believe it's some sort of profit share / franchise agreement and the more the catering company sell the better off the club do out of it.
The Trust have spoken to the club about this on numerous occasions over the years, and it was also discussed at one of the Fan Engagement Forums and it doesn't make financial sense to install a standing section where seating is already in place as they aren't cheap. The club have said it's something they would look at if/when redevelopment of the West Stand became reality. I do believe the club are sending representatives to look at Celtic's safe standing though.
There's a distinct lack of urgency with the catering especially wet sales in oak well. Which is bizarre given the selling of ale is tendered out to marstons. The staff appear to be under instruction not to start serving ale until the half time whistle is blown. Second they are one till and one staff member short in the ESL with either a lack of training or a lack of aptitude towards the role. Third pre pulling pints... They did that last season and started pulling them not long after kick off so it left them as flat as a witches tit. No topping up would breath life into them. With this there is the hygienic aspect of 100plus slowly deflating pots of ale left uncovered. As for snap sales. I don't eat in oak well unless I have to eg I've come straight from work like the Qpr game. Where the staff were, five minutes to kick off all face****tering on their various gadgets and didn't like having to do any work.
Molson Coors are the brewery that has the pouring rights to Oakwell unless something has changed over the summer and no-one's mentioned it to us in Redfearn's. The actual service on the concourse is provided by CGC who, as someone else mentioned, run the exec floor
