Very interesting comments in Yorkshire Post today:

"When Greg Abbott, Bradford City’s head of recruitment, stated last week that Armstrong was on ‘everybody’s dream wish list’ he did so with good reason. The Newcastle wonderkid scored a goal every other game on loan at Coventry last season and League One highlights packages were laced with his rapier-like movement and sharp finishing.Rafa Benitez made sure that before he let him out on loan to Oakwell, he tied the forward down for the next four years so his future is at St James’ Park for the foreseeable future.

For now, Paul Heckingbottom has a heck of a talent on his hands."

    This is Bradford City talking.

A league below. He would be on a League One dream wish list.

His foreseeable future is with us.

If he was the next Wayne Rooney he'd be at Newcastle. Still.

    He does look exciting though.

But the big question is, do you start him next week at Preston ? and who do you start him with ? That's 2 questions

Well.....it's one question, that begats another if the first answer is in the positive.

I think he's ripe for away matches if up to speed. With Watkins,

    We'll see how he goes.

    I'm looking at it

    We've got

Armstrong, Watkins and Bradshaw fighting for one place

Winnall and Payne for the other.

With the lack of options we have, we can't go 433 and it's likely to hurt us in the coming weeks.

Well I think you're mistaken if you think that on every team sheet there'll be either Winnall or Payne.

I would be so bold as to say you're looking at it. Or looking a tit - to so suggest.

with tuton and jackson definitely out of the picture (both at grimsby for the whole season), and with payne out for the near future, what will this do to our frontline ?
winnall has come back now but he needs his sharpness back, and all of a sudden bradshaw has got his first goal so that might work wonders for his confidence.
would we start up front at preston with winnall & watkins, bradshaw & watkins, or bradshaw & winnall. or would we put armstrong up front with one of those 3 ?

We've got Wolves, Brighton, Aston villa and Leeds to come before the next international break.

I'd hate to be someone making the 480 mile ground trip to the amex to see us destroyed in midfield. If I did I would be extremely angry

I can guarantee Watkins will be partnered by one of Winnall, Bradshaw or Armstrong

Then we are going to struggle like we did against

Ipswich, Huddersfield, QPR for large periods

Most teams will lose badly at the AMEX this season and I doubt very many will be angry about the result only if the performance is poor

When did we struggle against QPR?

Derby played three centre mids against us. Hendrick (just gone for £10m, replaced by Hughes early doors), Butterfield and Bryson. You'll struggle to find better at this level. And yet, Conor and Josh totally dominated them.

I'm sure you'll have an excuse for that, however. :D

Most of the second half. Couldn't keep the ball. Poulter was on top of Roberts for large periods including when he won the pen

We play 442, so don't worry about it.
And Payne's injured, so it's about who starts with Marley and who comes on after 1 hour. I'd say Winnall starts, then is replaced with Armstrong. Bradshaw can come on for Marley if and when needed. We'll play variations of that.

    I dispute that.

We had spells in each of those games where yes, we struggled. But it wasn't in midfield.

Not having that whitey. Butterfield played left midfield. He was then cutting infield when Foryth was on the overlap. In the first half it was right infront of me. Poor lad was blowing chasing Bree and Kent

Armstrong will start every match - far too good to leave out - unless he drops form obviously
My choice at the side of him would be our best permanent signing - Marley
