To quote the head coach. We will only bring in players to improve our first 11 To Adam Oxley yesterday. We know we need to bring in players, that was before the injuries we've picked up. For me their isn't a lot past the first team wayne. We are light. By the way to people above It was spine players not all those positions.
No because I find watching teams like Manchester united extremely boring but thank you for comparing our players, promoted from the third division a few months ago, to players worth millions and millions
My comments Supertyke are totally hypothetical and in reply to the "Jesus" response to Hemsy. We can no longer get 2/3 month loans but if we had been able to secure those three on season long loans this board would have been ecstatic.
It was your topic. Any subsequent comments, including mine, were responses to the points you raised in the opening post. Including the idea of replacing the so called 'spine' of the team with loanees. It's obvious we need additional players, everyone agrees with that. But only to supplement what we already have, not replace them. I was even interested in the Chelsea striker you mentioned, though I wouldn't hold your breath over him. But don't worry, I think your title of Thread-Mugger General is safe.
Think I've said it before on here....we need cover at left back and centre back. We also need someone to replace sessi in midfield as an all action biting hard ******* in midfield as cover and we need a Paul wilkinson type striker up front to make the best of all the crosses that are being flung in from wide areas. Either as cover or used tactically as a sub.
Quite a few people are talking about the topic that you created. You're just choosing to ignore them.
Hows statics stuff relevant to players coming in. Or x players the best in the league a normal response. I was hoping those that watch a lot of football live or on TV would come up with positions and names like i've seen other clubs do.
I think it's perfectly reasonable to talk about players we already have in a thread about what we need. It's fine for other people to think that kids from Chelsea on silly money can't walk straight into our team in exactly the same way it's fine for you to think that that can.
People do refer to the spine in terms of formation. I remember a few seasons ago some pundit raving about the Chelsea spine of Czech, Terry, Makalele, LAmpard & Drogba. But it can also mean the consistent core of first team players, around which the team is built. Be that squad players or loanees. I also think the definition of team is up for debate. We currently have a 'team', in the truest sense of the work. Whereas some would overhaul that with young, premier league fringe players with scant reputations. As Brownhill, we don't need him now with the way Scowen is playing, except for back up, which won't happen. Ashley is doing well at Hammers and I'm not convinced Long could cut it in the Champ, otherwise he'd be in the Burnley side. But he'd be better than nowt.
So back to my post then, if the head coach is talking about bringing in players that are better than what you have, why mention Morsy? Because he isn't.
Bang on only one I'd have back out of those three is Fletcher. I'd also have Isgrove back as we need cover on the wing
Davies, Roberts, Hourihane, Winnall. Spine. Yiadom, White, Hammill, Kent. Spine-tinglers. Scowen, Watkins and Angus. Spine-snappers. We will be adding more players this week to what is a small and talented group. I hope I've barely heard of those brought in. As I'd barely heard of Scowen, Winnall, Hourihane, Watkins, Davies, Mawson, Roberts, Yiadom and so on and so on.......... We're onto something. Revel in it. Look at the league table. Look who the top player in the division is. Look where Leeds, Wednesday, Derby and other big hitters are. Look at the fees we get now. Enjoy it while you can. Football is cyclical.
YTBFC - don't know if you are allowed to answer this or not but - do you think we will be able to hang onto CH beyond this week? TIA and hope this doesn't compromise you.
No, that's just the sun reflecting off his forehead This post was brought to you by the spirit of bossman
But why are you suggesting that we should bring players in to replace our current best players? Like Hourihane
Your best players are only that because you don't have better. I wasn't actually looking for anyone to replace Hourihane Wayne. I'm looking at When things get tough. It will happen look at the next group of fixtures. I see problems and i'm looking at how I hope the club improve. Every club will do the same from Barca to Accrington. Some are a lot more high profile than this. Look for ease at Hart. He was the best goalkeeper at the club. One of their better players and an experienced member of the team that faced up to the media on tough nights. Doesn't mean you can't get better. For the reccord I wasn't saying all of them should go straight in. I was happy with some of what i've seen in the first month but whats the point of me posting that. Non when 10 others will do. I posted something that others aren't thinking of but when things get tough and our squad gets tested in about 10 weeks time people will do. Guess what, that's too late. People are often at ease when things go well. I like the Joe Root, way of looking at this. When things look good go harder than ever to improve. Gets a massive score. What does he tell the coaches? get in the nets I want to improve.
