Those few houses near away end Create car park - then when times right build new West Stand Money left over - would go into plan A if I was PC - and he knows what's coming here Pocket the rest and find a new investor or buyer for the club PC has done a fantastic job - especially last few years when he's been more involved - but time to hand it over to an organisation or individual that has more buying power If that means PC and Maurice being retained on the board then that would be great
The school would make great office space for the club. That's about the only sense I can make out of that...
Probably better than chucking in it at players I suppose. We've got plans for a newwest stand without owning those haven't we?
In terms of buying the school great idea though I'd hope they would build a supporters club in conjunction with the Redfearnn's guys. They have done wonders with an office imagine what they could do with a proper base. Make us a proper community club again. The rest is of course ******** of the highest degree.
There's a planning permission in place for the school which I imagine would drastically affect the value: Approved Planning Applications Application Number: 2015/0462 Application Type: Full Decision Letter Date: 19/05/2016 Decision Status: Final Decision Decision Type: Approved Subject to Legal Agreement Development Description: Demolition of existing school and erection of 32 no dwellings and associated infrastructure. Development Address: Grove Street Junior & Infant School, Grasmere Road, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 1ES Officer: James Hyde Received Date: 15/04/2015 Registered Date: 30/04/2015 Applicant Name Mr Carl Lee Applicant Address Norcroft Grange Norcroft Lane Barnsley South Yorkshire S75 4DJ United Kingdom
We can't manage the car park we already have effectively and can't fill the stands we have already so much so we have closed part or some stands all together. Does this make the right business sense at this point in time?
Long term business plan, I do think they should purchase the houses (and the school were it's possible). The money from the houses you'd earn back in rent and can then, if it's ever needed, knock them down to improve the West side of the ground.
Yes we sell out all time we really need a new west stand, NOT. surely this post as your other are wind ups **** ones at that.
Loads of point buying the property around oakwell when we don't actually own oakwell... I thought the ground and everything were sold to the council. Or have I gone daft?
It's not full because the fit and able can park in town for free and get a bit of exercise walking to the ground in stead of paying an exorbitant sum for car parking it takes you half an hour to exit.
I suppose I'll have to spell it out If the club owned the school and the few houses towards the North Stand and demolished them to make a car park - when the time was right they could then extend the area of the ground onto the present street and move the street further over. This would then allow space for what ever the club wanted to build along the West Stand. Does see ?
So what do you think the school/land would sell for, given that there exists planniung permission for 32 dwellings on that site?
Why any true Barnsley fan would ever want to hand control over to some investment lot that could pull the plug at any time without giving a siht about our club. Long may PC`s rein continue.
Or the club could buy and reopen the school as an Academy, fleece the Gov out of a few million quid to pay Bastian Schweinsteiger as Academy Principal whilst playing him as our midfield general .......I think my plan makes more sense
Buying up some land around the ground isn't a bad shout. Lots of options as to what to do with it, but almost certainly a decent long term investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What I would do with the money is... Buy myself a nice little house overlooking the sea. Get an air con refill for my car. Buy a nice meal out at the Britannia Inn at Elterwater (where we are now) Give loads to Guide Dogs for the Blind. Give loads to border collie rescue. Allow wife to buy a copy of Country Living magazine. Balls to buying a car park or some old school. Meh.....
Re: What I would do with the money is... whilst its easy to spend some one elses money. i think if i was PC, i would be looking at developing the infrastructure of the business thus increasing its value as a club. I agree about the purchase of the houses and of the school. The school could be turned in a variety of uses from academy with accommodation for both scholars and senior players to a hotel for numerous clientel ie visiting teams who travel the night before could be considered it also could be part of the Barnsley FC museum the area is also large enough to extend and have a supporters club on site. It may cost a few million to do all this but in my opinion with a little bit of foresight would add great stock to the value of the club and we would be basically be a premier league outfit outside the top division and the envy of many. I wouldnt stray far from our current model on player recruitment has its proving to be a great success . I would also be looking into investing and promoting our mascot and using him as a tool for learning within the schools, plus retail sales and similar to Benficas model... a social club in the sense that offers numerous facilities restaurants in the area, access to medical teams and physical education discounts in large stores all in a separate season ticket to the football..all of which brings in numerous financial steams for the club with little out lay Before anyone goes Benfica BIG club...they started of small but had the foresight to invest .....all which was started with the idea of Ted Smith a former manager...the rest is history as they say
Re: What I would do with the money is... It would take PC years to sift through all these multi millionaires queueing up to throw their money at BFC . Look at them clamouring now just to put their names forward
