anyone know how many have rotherham sold? they got given 2645 would be nice for a local derby and have the away end full aswel as the home ends
My guess is they'll sell 3-4000 max. Not a chance of them selling 6,000. Never been a well supported club Rovrum.
Bottom of the East has nearly sold out, Upper looking fairly full - you can only get two seats together in the end blocks. The back two thirds of the Ponty all the way along are virtually full. Expect a few still getting their tickets this afternoon.
Shame we can't get crowds like the 26,000 or so that were at that match in Norman Hunter's time as manager (not looked it up but have a vague memory that was the attendance). I have passed on my scrapbooks to a family member so can't use them for reference any more. Seem to remember Alan Birch scoring for us. Barnsley v Rotherham matches have been traditionally high attendance affairs so it will be nice to have them back again, even if it is only for this season (with them going down I mean )
http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/bars.htm We only averaged 12-15,000 during those days. I know the odd games we got the big crowds like you say but imagine what crowds we would have got during the Prem season if we had the capacity.
Well yes, I suppose we would have got a few thousand more, certainly for the big games. I doubt the likes of Wimbledon, Palace and Coventry would have drawn many in though. We couldn't even sell out the 18,000 seats that we had for those. The Clarke/Hunter era was special for many of us who lived through it. I remember one season when we were the third best supported club in the Second Division, behind only Newcastle and Wednesday.
Their forum says 2700 and hoping to clear 3k+ today. Looking forrad to it. Weathers nice, hope we get a last minute push and beat the Derby attendance easily.
Yes, attending football was a lot less popular in those days. 12-15 k was well above the division average. Which is why we were able to attract quality players.
East and Ponty nearing a sell out. https://www.eticketing.co.uk/barnsleyfc/details/event.aspx?itemref=2327
the last time it was like that the next day it went back to what it looked like day before it looked like a sell out
