In my opinion 1 x Utility fullback or at least a left back 1 x Centre half challenging for a first team spot 2 x Centre mid. One challenging for a first team spot. The other as cover. We may have someone in development already. 1 x Winger 1 x Pacey centre forward with presence September until January is a very long time. With the addition of a quicker striker I would happily see our starting 11 go at it all season. But in reality that just isn't going to happen. A lot of work to be done. I hope a win on Saturday wont cloud judgment in respect of squad requirements. Come October/November time this year we have no loans to help freshen the squad. We've needed loans to around this period for the last 10 years at least. We cant pretend this year might be any different. This is where the likes of Lee ect come in chomping at the bit ready to make a name. If we don't need them then brilliant, but chances are we will.
Think you're spot on with that assessment. I expect a very busy transfer window for us. Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
It's difficult with the loan window being abolished. On one hand we need more strength in depth to see us through to January, but on the other hand we don't want a squad overloaded with players, some of which are probably going to get unhappy at the lack of game time. We need cover at left-back, and a centre-half to the replace inevitably departing of Alfie Mawson. I can't see us signing two central midfielders with George Moncur being around, but a ball winner is definitely needed. I'd also hope we're looking for another winger, and striker, but I'm sure the people in charge know more than me.
If Monks can play in a 4-4-2 central midfield role then we would just need a Morsy type to come in. But we do need someone relatively proven in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Think he's spot on though with what we need. Our starting line up is too predictable and our bench far too weak.
I'd say you are right with what we need we severely lack options or strength in depth. Shame the recruitment is so last minute again.
I think that is spot on and would make us competitive. Any less than that and we'll be a little short in my opinion. That's not to say I expect six signings, I would hope for at least four however. Cessi D'Almeida was the only proper central midfielder to cover Hourihane and Scowen (Moncur more of a second striker for me), now he's injured, we need two players for that area in my opinion. Clearly the need to cover left back is a priority, especially with Callum Evans' apparent injury, whilst another centre back is a must NOW, never mind if Mawson does indeed move on. I feel a striker would be preferable, but I'd sooner see another winger to give support to Hammill/Kent towards the end of games. If Elliot Lee is seen as ready, perhaps a striker would be more of a pressing need. Our encouraging start to the season cannot mask huge holes in the squad depth. We will get injuries and suspensions, plus drops in form. Say if Hourihane got injured on Saturday and Hammill sent off, then in the next game White breaks down... negative and unlikely I know but we need players ready to come straight in. Of course Hecky and the club know this, I just fear we may be in a concerning rush to add enough players next week.
We must be waiting for premier league teams to decide on their squads, which leads me to believe we know exactly the type of player we want to bring in. Anything else smells of desperation, something I thought we had learned from last season.
No way we will get all them I think we,ll settle for a couple of loans.Clubs will put the price up when we ask about a player.
Not sure why you've said I'm expecting it. In my opinion we'll be very short if we don't though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The checklist is looking good. Utility fullback in. Left sided. Centre back in. Pacey forward in. Centre mid and a winger required. Anything else is a bonus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
