As the price is going up again are you allowed to downgrade the package? So far the best offers seem to be for potential new customers.
Research a better offer tell em you're leaving they will probably give in. My mate works for Sky on their 'saves' team. They offer all sorts of ****.
I'm quite happy with the Virgin product but it continues to go up every few months.I'd like to down grade to the "Big Easy" package but it appears to be for new customers.
I've just dumped Sky Sports and Sky Movies. Saved over 50 quid a month. And my conscience has received a much needed boost.
Yep just downgraded this morning. To the medium+ TV package, kept 100mb broadband and halved my bill. Got 4 subscriptions to an IPTV service for less than £20 a month and still saving overall Sent from my X5pro using Tapatalk
I've got the same problem, I can't believe how much it costs now compared to when we signed up (ignoring the first 12 month over). We have the smallest tv package (which we don't use and I would happily drop), free calls (which I used to like but don't really use anymore - maybe one call every few months) and broadband (not sure what speed) and we now pay around £50 a month when it used to be £35. I've looked around a few times but when you factor in line rental elsewhere (plus set up fees etc.) then it adds up to the same anyway.
I get the impression that the saves team is one of the biggest teams at sky. Used to work for a customer in Glasgow whose missus worked in the saves team at sky in Glasgow. Think they are all on commission.
I'm in the same boat here. Just got my latest bill in. Now just over £60. I cant understand it. I only have basic tv, landline and broadband. Just been on the phone to complain but the guy in Deli cant help much and told me to phone back tomorrow. Can't see how I can my package down any lower other than telling them to take the lot out and start again.
Do you do the advance line rental saver? If you can afford it, you pay around £165, annually. This basically pays your line rental for the year. It equates to around £5 per month saving on the normal monthly rate, but it feels like more, as you are then paying £17 per month less. You can stomach that bill so much more.
That's what I did. I also get an extra 10gb data a month on my mobile, for taking broadband. So effectively unlimited data on my mobile as well, for £19/mth
I've done away with a landline, don't have Sky, get TV free through an aerial and my mobile contract is £5 per month. We're currently "borrowing" next door's internet but eventually we'll use mobile Internet on Pay As You Go for about £10 per month, depending on usage. Gobsmacked at what people are happy to pay - in many cases well over £100 per month. They're happy about it too and some of them brag about it like Stella drinkers.
If you're out of contract, give them a call and say you're leaving and actually go through with the process, theres a 30 day waiting period before the service is actually cancelled and they'll call you during this period offering much better deals, don't go with the first offer though. We would have been doing this as we had Virgin at our old address and were happy with it but it isn't available at our new address. Which is a shame as we're paying roughly the same for far slower broadband and the Sky+ box is weak compared to Virgins Tivo. Though apparently the new Sky Q box is better. If you're still in contract you should be able to downgrade or cancel the service altogether without penalty, have a look at this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ne...t-customers-with-price-hikes-of-up-to-42-year
Update on my issues. I just returned a call to Virgin. For once I got an English girl. One I could relate to and converse properly. I was given BT Sports free for a year as a goodwill gesture not to go to SKY last year but it apparently was my obligation to cancel it. They never said that at the time. So obviously I was not happy with a £61 bill this month. I explained this to the girl she got it took off and was quite happy to drop the bill to £41.08 otherwise I told her I would leave Virgin. TBH I hardly watched the live football which I received. I would either be at a DUFC game while it was being shown or in the pub watching it with a drink or just not too bothered about it at all. IMO all over priced and not worth it.
Update on my package.I rang Virgin this morning and got my bill reduced from £83 to £55.They reduced my internet speed which for browsing shouldn't have any affect on me and I reduced my tv package down to medium.I'll not get BT sports which I'm not too bothered and I'll still get Sky Sports News.Quite happy with the result.
Most people still have a phone line though because you get better value bundles with their line rental. I'm on fibre, and still have line rental to pay for.
