Hmm - I dont think we should sell to a promotion chasing rival ALso if I were Mawson Id be waiting for a Prem club to come in - not a lot of point going to Wolves other than more money Also Wolves signed a defender from Man U on a season long loan yesterday
Could understand him going there. Probably going to pay him 5-10k more a week. More chance of achieving premier league than we will.
Talksport were saying this morning that Wolves' new owners are up for a big spending spree. With them, Newcastle and Sunderland all chasing him I think the chances of him still being our player next week are very slim. Which brings us back to Kevin Long. Hopefully. A fellow Cork man to keep Conor company.
We're "promotion chasing"? Suppose it sounds better than us being (perennially) "relegation threatened". "Mid table obscurity" would more realistically suffice.
I think it's pretty obvious now that Mawson wants to leave the club, it seems his agent is touting him around to different clubs to get him a move. I just hope he doesn't end up putting in a transfer request & leaving on bad terms after the success of last season. Although I don't think he's worth more than what Sunderland's offered I just hope that there is several clubs interested & we do get a big fee for him
I'd imagine it'd be along the lines of, 'not got a clue mate, different chairman, manager, coaches & none of the players are still there'
Why is it obvious he wants to leave? He hasn`t t put a request in so it is just rumours. Also, the way he celebrated his 2 goals this season shows he is proud to be bart of the setup to me.
I hope Sunderland pull their finger out and sign him. Think Moyes will steady the ship there eventually and Mawson would excel. After having Brown and O'Shea for what feels like years the fans would love Mawson. I reckon Brentford have a sell on clause built in which will drive the fee up further. Would expect him to go for £4 million after the game vs. Rotherham.
My two penneth is that he wants to leave. During the open top parades he looked miserable as ****. Last season he was ever present. Whether that was community stuff, interviews, pre-match. All of that just seems to have disappeared. He's doing the business on the pitch, but he's a pro and that's exactly what I would expect him to do. Compared to how visible he was last year, I'd say he didn't particularly want to be here. I do wonder how he took being stripped of the captaincy. Dunno. Either way I think he'll be gone by the end of the window. We'll see..
I think so too but nothing less than £3million given what the prem and top end champ clubs are spending.
Strongly doubt that phased him he wasn't cut out for it he needed to focus on his game which brought about massive improvement. He might make a good captain now, though, but surely even he will realise the benefits he's reaped from diminished responsibility. I don't think the rumours come from nowhere and have read from Hecky's interviews he wants out which is fair enough. I just think he probably wants more money and the chance at the top which he probably doesn't feel he'll get here which is fair enough while ever he's doing the business on the pitch. Fair play to him and good luck.
Do we know that all of the stuff he's done off the pitch has stopped, he hasn't done any interviews because it looks like were changing up who does the interviews every game, do you not think he might just be a private guy? It's like people are looking for clues to him leaving when we really should just leave it and see what happens because if some people start to think he wants to leave then they'll get on his back which is something we don't need.
He's a professional so he's bound to celebrate a goal that puts his team back in the match and gives him even more bargaining power if he was to leave. There is no smoke without fire and he's not exactly in an hurry to talk down transfer speculation and say he's happy here. Last season he was all over the place like the stuff with little Alfie and press interviews ect, but this season he's been anonymous.
I don't know Alfie so don't know what he wants or what he's thinking. From our point of view Leeds got £6 million from Bournemouth for Lewis Cook that would be my benchmark.
