I find it incredible that the club will postpone odd games in winter owing to fears of danger to fans from icy pavements - and yet is happy to allow thousands of fans to fend for themselves in the shambles that is the South Stand car park after EVERY SINGLE GAME.

That the club is happy to put profit before safety in that car park is an absolute disgrace.

 

I agree, surely the 'old chestnuts' are a priority as they are the things the fans feel strongly enough about to bring up time and again and that nothing has been done about previously.

 

As pointed out by others these are genuine concerns. If they are "old chestnuts" does this mean that they will not even be raised and discussed?

If that is the case I would suggest a longer meeting be scheduled, or even a series of meetings, until all issues have been addressed, answered and hopefully resolved to the complainants' satisfaction. Otherwise there isn't much point in asking for anything.

It will be like the old military scenario where the Duty Officer saunters around the junior ranks mess at meal times asking "Any complaints, chaps?" and if any airman/soldier/rating has the temerity to stick his hand up he will either be fobbed off or put on a charge!

 

That is exactly how it feels with bfc.

If you raise an issue to try to improve things you are seen as a trouble maker.

 

This with knobs on. I suspect (or hope) they have just delayed announcing something, as they have been pushing the last chance season tickets for Derby and QPR attendees. They still seem to think everyone can be turned into a season ticket holder.

 

I bet you that if they could somehow cobble together some kind of interest free finance scheme that allowed people to pay between £30 and £40 per month for their ticket they definitely WOULD rake in more season ticket holders. I can afford a summer one-off payment but plenty can't so why not give them that carrot? If a dallying fan looked at the prospect of paying out about £10 a week for the whole season's games it would surely be a winner.

There's a significant number of people whose work pattern or location prevents them going to enough games to make a season ticket viable. These people are simply not catered for at the moment.

 

Im sure some poncy artist type on this Bbs offered to do it for cost of the paint and was told to do one.

 

Guff! Of course they are (of which I'm one) Tickets are available on a pay on the day basis.

 

At a rip off price intended to fleece away supporters with the club willing to charge so much because they feel they don't get many pay on the day home fans so the rip off price won't affect too many of our own fans.

It's a bizarre logic to say the least. "We don't sell many tickets for some reason. Best raise the price then"

 

His point was pay on the day customers were not catered for. I pointed out (which we all know) they are. I agree the clubs logic designed to fleece away fans impacts our own fans. This isn't a great situation and it's right out of the don rowing school of football admin.

What can be done? Cheaper deals for home fans ala Huddersfield? I'm sure the club might do something when we play a club who will only bring 300 away fans.

 

What he meant was that fans who can maybe half of the home games are not catered for. Anyone who desires to be a 'regular' and have essentially a season ticket but know they can't commit to going to every game are not catered for because the club has so far refused to offer any kind of flexi ticket.

 

Supporters with a physical disability/wheelchair users are discriminated against.

The box-office is inaccessible - stiff door - the counter is too high.

The Family Seating area is inaccessible so a family with a disabled member can't sit together.
For the physically disabled supporter no chance of a pre-match meal, meeting the man of the match at the end of a match, attending meetings with the manager and owner which may be held in the East Stand.

Some disabled supporters excluded from Oakwell - no room for them.

 

I don't think disabled fans can use the lift if they can't get down the stairs unaided in an emergency, seem to remember someone with an elderly relative having a problem with this in the past

 

The first point could be easily rectified with an automatic door fitted with one of the push pad sensors. Lots of places have them fitted now so it shouldn't be too hard to do.

 

I was told that officially the lift was a service lift not to be used for people with ambulatory problems. The reason being that if there was a fire it could not be used as an 'escape route' by the disabled and they would be stranded. This could be checked out.

And what about the inaccessible Box Office with its high counter?

 

Are you being deliberately obtuse? The only people who currently have a deal with the club are those who can commit to a full season. Those who can't commit to a full season aren't catered for deal wise. You might be stupid enough to pay the ridiculous prices the club decide to charge on the day, but others can't/won't. I'd pay up front for a 10 game flexi ticket with a reasonable discount.

 

Regarding old chestnuts, i will give full answers next week.
However, i know a reply was given last year over car park issue on a night and time taken to exit car park.
Don't want to start a separate thread so will reply fully after meeting.
Keep the questions coming. Pointless coming on next week after meeting as they won't be taken on till following month.
