I didn't celebrate our goal, because I thought I heard a whistle, and then I saw the ref point as if he was giving a free kick. I was convinced he'd disallowed it.

I had one of those feelings when you think everyone is celebrating, and eventually the truth will dawn on them. Anyone know what happened? Glad it was a goal, but felt the gloss was taken off.

I only gave a half hearted celebration too.

Was certain it was going to be disallowed.

I heard a whistle and was waiting for cheers to turn to jeers.

I was in the away end and from the other side of the pitch it looked like a foul all day long and I thought it wasn't given. But I didn't celebrate when it was given due to having 3k of Huddersfield Town fans around me lol

Same. Heard a whistle and just stayed sat in my seat watching everything unfold. Must have looked like a Huddersfield fan cos everyone around me was going bananas and I was just sitting thinking "has he given it?"

The referee didn't give a clear indication or signal that he had awarded a goal either. Quite a lot of refs these days are unable to communicate their decisions with their hands.

from where I was the ref looked as though he had disallowed it, I initially jumped up, then sat down quickly, I was in the Hudders end also

I remember when refs used to spin and point dramatically to the centre circle to signal a goal. Now they just look nonchalantly at the gaggle of players congregating by the corner flag and do nothing to either hurry them up or make it clear he has given the goal.

I suppose it is a case of take it as read. It's a goal.
