Looks like an awful place to watch football, as I suspected it would be. Fans too far away from the pitch, like the old Wembley stadium used to be. Imagine being behind the goal on Row Z or worse - you would need binoculars to even see the closest end, never mind the far end. Looks rubbish and it will be half full of plastic fans who have never seen West Ham play before, the other half wishing they were back at Upton Park.
Rather we got Arsenal away. I went to the Olympic Stadium during the Paralympics and also registered for tickets for next years World Athletics Championships.
It does look pretty soulless, and even though it still looks like the Olympic Stadium, the place has effectively been rebuilt so there was an opportunity to go in a different direction with it but I suppose they wanted to give the illusion that it's the same place that hosted the Olympics. Think it was part of contract that other sports and events could be held there after handover think that's reason Spurs bid failed .
The World Athletics Championships are being held there next year so it would have been difficult to change it too much.
I was impressed with the Ricoh when we were there last year and thought the Olympic stadium was quite good also ( went to the Rugby League v New Zealand last November). Guess I`m more of a glass half full guy.
Can't say I have any interest in attending a football game there. Soulless passionless and not fit for purpose.
I am a bit unsure on that- been in the stadium several times Olympics and Anniversary games including the ones held last month.(and will be there for the World Champs next year) Its a great stadium for watching athletics - even after conversion to a football stadium - though it seems to have lost something As I was sitting there a few weeks ago trying to visualise it as a football stadium and I must admit I wasnt convinced. It seemed to me that you had to be too far from the action. Dont get me wrong if we get West Ham in the cup I will go but would rather go to Stamford Bridge or White Hart lane
