In my opinion. We've taken on and beaten two potential Play Off contenders at home, playing wonderful football (the best seen at Oakwell for some quite considerable time). Balance that with two disappointing results away from home and seeing individual errors punished by a superior standard of opponent, compared to what we're used to these past couple of seasons.
I don't think we're firing on all cylinders, either, yet. Winnall's been injured, Bradshaw hasn't found his scoring boots yet and neither Moncur or Lee have had an opportunity to show us what they're capable of. I certainly refuse to write off any of our new signings before they've really started their Barnsley careers.
I'm dead chuffed with Paul Heckingbottom at the helm and have every confidence in him to bring in the right players for us, whilst at the same continuing to put out an exciting and entertaining team.

Agree. Most pleasing thing for me is that at the very least we've shown we can compete against good sides in this division.

My abiding memory of our last season in the championship is getting turned over on the first day of the season against Wigan and it being abundantly clear they were a level above us. This got repeated over and over again throughout the season. I don't think any team has done that so far.

If we can just up the concentration levels and see out promising positions we should be more than ok this year. Let's just hope we don't have another October and November like last year!

50% record, keep it up and that would be 69 points!:D

    Well said, Sir.

50% points from the first four games off what looked a tough old start is more than acceptable. The football at Oakwell is exactly why we wanted to get back into this league. I very strongly believe that there will be vastly more to come from Bradshaw, Elliot and Lee as they get fitter and become more inculcated into our ways. I believe that the same can be said for Yiadom and Payne, no matter what the amateur coaches on here say against them.

I've enjoyed the first two home games, and I can't wait for the next 21.

I'd certainly prefer a better first half to the season compared to the last one, mate!:D

Those extra couple of thousand ST holders have been well and truly entertained with those first home games.

I'm really enjoying our football at the moment. If others can't, or won't, so be it.

I've had a patchy start to the season. Only been to one game. Even then, I had to have a late fitness test.. :(

Missed yesterday's game, as we've been visiting Christopher & Becky in Chester for a few days. Becky's now five months pregnant and has been in hospital with a serious kidney problem. Thankfully, she's now at home and we've been looking after her whilst Christopher's been at work.

I'm enjoying it just along for the ride. It's entertaining stuff win or lose we play as a team for each us and for the fans. What more could we want?

Elliot and Lee? Is that Billy Elliot and Bruce Lee? Billy will dance his way through opposition defences and Bruce can stop their forwards with a swift chop

I'm delighted with how we've performed this season, especially without last season's top goalscorer, and the 3 fantastic loanee's who aren't here anymore. Surely anybody on this board would have taken 6 points out of 12 from the first 4 games? I'm very happy!

Agreed and could very easily had another couple of points. Tough road ahead, with many ups and downs and I really hope everyone stays fully behind the team even after a heavy defeat, if that happens. With the way the club is developing, anything above 22nd will be excellent.

Very happy here, be ecstatic if we could stop giving away so many penalties and address our Achilles heal of giving away goals right at the start and the end of the second half. No blame on any players, it's just something that always seems to dog us.

Oops! Moncur and Lee of course!

That shows the danger of posting after a bottle of Macon Villages!

Enjoying the football we're playing at the moment. I went to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday and, while obviously disappointed to have lost to a late goal, I was proud of the way we took the game to Huddersfield in the 2nd half. A foot or so to the left and Payne's shot would have gone in and we'd have been in front.

Huddersfield are a good yardstick for us. They're flying right now and this is their fourth season back in the Championship but more importantly this is the first season where they look to be kicking on. We gave them a scrap. We took all the points off Derby and QPR, both teams that have been used to being at the top end of the Division.

I've every faith in Hecky to bring out the best in our players and I'm sure we'll be strengthening the squad in the next few weeks.

    Absolutely

6 points from the first 4 games is a very decent start, particularly when you consider the quality of the teams we've beaten.

Mind you, after 4 games in the prem we also had 6 points. However, the two wins were against Bolton and Palace who were promoted with us.

    Re: Absolutely

    That's very true.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for posting all those photos from yesteryear, mate? They were a reminder of the happy times of my youth. I'd forgotten just what a pigsty Stamford Bridge was in those days, with non existent policing, alongside the warm, welcoming & friendly(!) home fans.
