Team UK had their greatest ever result overseas in the Olympics... 4 years ago In London we blew that result away on home turf... and now in 2016 we have surpassed Beijing 2008 and have a real shout of surpassing our medal total at London 2012... so what do BBC do... they give EASTENDERS pole position... I am totally breathless.

Personally I don't really care how many gold medals we get or anything like that, a lot of it is down to funding anyway which gives funded athletes an edge over those without the same funding. Cycling for example.

I love watching the Olympics though because of the effort that every single one of them puts in. Knowing they've trained so long and hard and that it is a one shot deal where they put everything in. I guess that's why I'm not too keen on the golf, rugby, tennis or football in the Olympics, the level of training and commitment doesn't seem to be the same.

In short, I love the Olympics but dont really keep an eye on the medals table or anything or particularly feel much pride if a British athlete wins. Does that make me weird?

If it was all down to money then our football teams would win international tournaments and our clubs would win the champions league

Yes it does. Isn't funding the key to any sporting team / persons success these days?

One thing I wasn't aware of is that the lotto funding only goes to the sports that have done well in previous Olympics. For example, it was mentioned on TV that because the GB Basketball team had a disapointing London Olympics there was no Lotto funding for Basketball after that. I would've thought that in instances like this it's exactly where funding needs to go.

I messed up... yes 8 years of course, but still I think the BBC shoulda moved Eastender's and not the Olympics.

    Why?

The olympics is a magnificent spectacle, team GB have had a fantastic games this year, doing the country proud and I have certainly enjoyed watching a lot of it.

But there's probably about seven or eight million folk watch eastenders, four times a week every week. They would argue it should be on the premier channel. Plus Olympic viewers are more likely to be viewing live, eastenders viewers might have a sky or Virgin series link set up to record it, which wouldn't have picked up if they switched the channel (I can testify to that as they switched the channel for motd2 last week and it didn't record).

The Olympic coverage has been very good, bbc1, bbc2, bbc4, red button and online. I'm not overly fussed which channel it's on.

As I write this another British gold in the canoeing. Well done lad. On BBC1 like...

And only the BBC have spent more on the Olympics than the BOA
