I have a problem with outlook which means that I'm receiving thousands (today's total 4,566!) emails sent from 'Mail Delivery System' entitled '(BG Spam Warning: then a series of all different numbers and letters followed by 'delayed 24/48/72/96 hours'. The actual number is going up daily. I haven't sent emails to any of the supposed recipients. When I switch on my PC it's taking the best part of an hour for the emails to load! I suspect that my account has a virus or has been hacked or something but have no idea how to stop/correct it. Anyone 'techy' who could offer any advice?
If your using Outlook as a client And connecting to say Google. Then log in online to that account a set up a rule to delete anything with that title. Before you outlook connects and downloads they will be gone....
Obviously the emails all have random numbers but you should be able to set up "delete emails" that "contain" bg spam warning. Possibly then create a scheduled task to empty your recycle bin if you can't delete for ever straight away. That way then outlook won't simply sync your deleted folder.
That seems to be working - thanks again. And RedMonk - yes, password changed several times actually as I was concerned someone might be trying to access my PC.
Of course if you have your email address reported as being a spam sender. You could find your account disabled. So the above will only stop you getting thousands of those reports. If I remember correctly you can send an email to anyone making it appear with a different senders address Your ip provider would be able to trace that and confirm it's not you though. I think
