it sounds like a cracking game and a genuinely good performance from us tonight against a real promotion favourite. (regardless of whether we lose or not) id take the 2-2 right now if i could, thats 4 great points in these two home games that we were supposed to lose.
my comment was so good Selby, you replied to it twice lol. and look at who we are above in the league tonight... that little slimy scumbag lee johnson & his brizzlers
The second was a certain penalty. The first was probably one, it looks like one but unless there's another camera angle than the one Sky showed then it's impossible to tell for certain
1st was iffy Roberts was holding Poulter but Poulter was grabbing him back and it did look like he fell abit easily but you can see why he gave it 2nd one was stonewall Shame really, two blots on what was otherwise two very good defensive performances from Bree and Roberts Would have had a clean sheet if not for the pens
I think both would best be described as 'won, rather than conceded. As would Conor's free kick come to that ... We do need to wise up to it. Many of our lads will have never come up against such devilry in their careers to date..
The first one was naivety from Roberts. It was won by their attacker and he threw himself down, knew exactly what he was doing. The players will become more streetwise as the season goes on I would hope. The second was daft from Bree. It will come with experience.
They were both pens. Even Bree admitted it. You can't go diving in like that. Hopefully he'll learn from it
My view Neither wouldve been pens 10-15 yrs ago. An arm rested on the shoulder makes a 6ft centre forward collapse to the floor. A withdrawn block attempt causes a player to jump and pirouette crashing to the ground. Today, both penalties. But neither should be. I'd rather we didn't fight fire with fire, but it may well be the only way to try and rectify the imbalance.
Mate of mine is adamant that JFH's comments today are correct and that the first should have been a sending off due to being the last man..
I didnt know about this but just looked it up you can still be sent off and a penalty given for deliberate handballs or offenses where there was no attempt to play the ball but deliberately take out the opposing player but no longer for mistimed tackles where the striker gets there first I think Roberts may have been sent off last season - but to keep him on this season was correct. Hard to criticise the ref for giving the pen. The Bree one was as stonewall a pen as you could wish for - lucky he didnt get a yellow for diving in late
"Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity in the penalty area is no longer a straight red card - unless the offence is holding, pulling or pushing; there's no attempt to play or no possibility of making a challenge; or it's an offence which is punishable by a red card, no matter where on the pitch it happens - violent conduct, for example." interesting
