Whilst I don't agree with what may be happening regards certain players contracts,(Steele should be on a two year deal in my opinion) I would like to believe the manager and board have made these decisions with the clubs interests at heart. All the speculation makes it seem that there is problems between the players and manager when we all know just over a month ago Flitcroft praised Steele and Hassell to the hilt and they praised the manager for what he achieved. We can all speculate what as been offered but at the end of the day no one apart from the people involved has a clue.
I remember over the years being gutted when certain players left none more so when Ronnie Glavin moved on but one thing that stayed was my support for my club. After what was achieved after taking over, if anyone deserves our support and patience while he builds for next season its David Flitcroft.

But as Flitcroft is showing himself, the past is the past.

So whilst I'll always remember the great escape last season, it's what we do now/next that will matter.

I'm sure Ive said this before, but since the Bosman ruling its foolish to get attached to any player...Football is a very transient business..

I agree with that. That's why I said he deserves our support and patience while he builds for the future.

He's got mine, 100%. But I will question his decisions, just as I did with Wilson and the rest.

No manager is above questioning in my mind and doing so does not make anyone any less of a supporter.

Maybe you should have added the word "blind" to your thread title.

I too will question his decisions, like I already said Steele in my view should have a 2 year deal. But I also think the board and manager will try and do things with the benefit of the club in mind.It doesn't make sense to do other wise.

Do you think he would accept 2 years at the (supposed) reduced terms? Why would 2 years at the same money be more attractive than one (other than job security etc?) If he wants to sign for us, then I expect he will, no matter what the length of deal. He is in a strong position as a 'young' proven goalkeeper but needs to decide whether he wants to bench warm elsewhere or be number 1 here.

Let's then hope this board and manager are on - and remain on - the same page. That's a key factor in why the last two managers left/failed.
    Talk is cheap.
