Re: Excellent idea I think that'd put me off coming back to be honest. Imagine splitting up with a girlfriend and a few months later getting a phone call 'come back to me, I've had your face printed onto my pillow and got your name in lights on my bedroom wall. I've even named 6 of my 9 cats after you'.
Re: Excellent idea If I was John Stones I'd be embarrassed. The lad played 20 odd games, most of them in defeats under Keith Hill. Fair play, he looks talented, but I've stated from day one that for once we did well to get what we did for a raw talent. He was no better than Neil Austin when he first broke through, nor Chris Barker when he did. Naming a gym after him? Naming owt after him full stop is both bizarre, and tinpot. Just my opinion. All of the above.
Re: Excellent idea Haven't you heard that the contract signing room is to be renamed 'The Michael McIndoe suite' and all future signings will be encouraged to insert as many clauses into their contracts as they can. It's all a bit phoenix nights isn't it. Welcome to the Sir Stephen Redgrave Suite
Re: Excellent idea "If you'd just like to make your way down the corridor Sir, and then to your left is the 'Don Rowing Negotiation Room'....
Re: Excellent idea Good call. I hear that the supporters trust is trying to bring back the family stand. 'The Tommy Tyke Stand' nailed on. Remember kids, there's nowt wrong with hanging out in Tommy's special area
Re: Excellent idea Love the way people are having ago at him for moving. Like any other player wouldn't do the same. Players who stay with Clubs like barnsley stay with barnsley for one thing. Because they aren't good enough to move to the next level. Steele says if he get's a deal to move on to the next level he's going to move on too. People need to realise that Stones moving was good for Stones and Barnsley FC. Stones was a talent player at oakwell and from what i understand he's progressing quite well at Everton. Got to u21's semi final with Everton who got beat by Tottenham. Makes me chuckle that people like Supertyke have ago at someone who's trying to do better. Whilst they celebrate someone who wants to stand still and not test there self.
Re: Excellent idea When did I have a go at him? I also don't think that going from regular first team football to absolutely no first team football and playing youth football is progression, it's a step backwards if owt.
Obviously this is another attempt by Flitcroft to belittle Hassell, fortunately the Bobster, will and always will rise above any attepts this man makes against him.
Re: Excellent idea I have always said the move was good for BFC. Don't get me wrong, I liked John. He looked a Championship quality performer from day one at such an early age. I think it was a fantastic bit of business for BFC getting £3m for him. Because, as I've seen for the last 20 odd years at Oakwell, we've had plenty of youngsters break through and after 20 games or so they fade away into average laikers who end up in the lower leagues. So yes, £3m for what is 'potential', a raw talent, well that can't be sniffed at. I hope he goes on to become the best defender in the World. Because that will look favourably on BFC in future transfers of our next standout youth players. We'll be able to quote Stones and get even dafter amounts for a kid who played 20 odd games in a **** team that was losing every week. John went with my best wishes, and I still wish him the best. But he's not achieved anything in my opinion that warrants a gym naming in his honour. I mean, I'd have still found it bizarre and somewhat embarrassing if they'd decided to name it 'The Butterfield Suite'. I just don't get it. It would have made more sense to name it 'The Rimmington Fitness Suite' or even 'The Guy Proctor Gym'. I'd have at least understood either of those. As for your remark about John bettering himself, you're one of those who suggested Butterfield should have stayed, and that he's now a wasted talent. Make your mind up.
Re: Excellent idea Whitey. I think the moves are different. Butterfield moved injured and left it late. It's the leaving it so late that I didn't like. He made the move so late. Stones got the deal done after an outstanding performance in one day.
Re: Excellent idea Butterfield signed for Norwich on 3rd July 2012. Five and half weeks before the start of the new season. Stones signed for Everton on the final day of the transfer window. Well, the final night actually.
